Emotional Release

Emotional Release

I painted this entire piece with my fingers. I remember moving so much energy through my hands and into the canvas, pushing, pulling, and blending the paint as I allowed whatever I was feeling to move through me. There was no plan for what it needed to become. I simply allowed myself to create.

What emerged has always fascinated me because people see so many different things within it. Some see an eye, a rainbow, or a dragon’s eye. Others see the curves of the female form. I don’t believe there needs to be one interpretation. Perhaps part of its beauty is allowing each person to discover something different within it. For me, Emotional Release is exactly what its name suggests: freedom. It is a moment when emotion became movement, movement became color, and something beautiful emerged from that energy.
