Dad, Seriously?

I had recently returned from Scotland where I had the chance to spend time with real Highland cows and completely fell in love with them. When I started painting these two, a story began forming in my head and the more I painted, the harder I laughed. Dad is this big buff guy who absolutely loves taking pictures with his son. He has been trying to get the perfect selfie for what feels like forever. Meanwhile, his adolescent son has officially had enough.

I can almost hear him saying, “Dad, seriously? We’ve been doing this for like 20 minutes.”

Their expressions and body language made them feel less like two cows I was painting and more like two characters I was getting to know. This is only the beginning for these two. I can already imagine the rest of their family and the adventures waiting for them.
