Water Your Eternal Garden

Water Your Eternal Garden

This painting began with layers of blue flowers built from thick, heavily textured paint. I worked the paint into ridges, petals and raised centers, allowing the texture itself to form much of what you see. Up close, the surface becomes almost sculptural, with each flower carrying its own shape and dimension.

The black outlines were completely intentional. At first, I thought I would outline every flower on the canvas. Then I stopped. There was something transformational about seeing only a few of them defined while the others remained within the texture. I loved the contrast it created and how differently those few flowers suddenly appeared.

It reminds me that not everything within us has to emerge at the same time. Some parts of ourselves are clearly defined, while others are still taking shape, growing quietly beneath the surface. Water Your Eternal Garden is about continuing to nourish all of yourself, what has already bloomed and what is still becoming.
